Winners of the All-Russian Journalist Competition Electric Grids 2009 Are Chosen
18 February 2010On February 18, IDGC Holding announced the results of the All-Russian Journalist Competition Electric Grids 2009, organized by the Company with support from the Russian Energy Ministry and the Russian Public Relations Association.
In opening the award ceremony, Nikolay Shvets, Director General of JSC IDGC Holding, noted that over 300 Russian journalists had taken part in the competition.
“I believe it was a good opportunity for journalists to show themselves and prove their commitment to the media coverage of the electric utility industry,” said Nikolay Shvets.
The electric distribution grid system and the electric utility system on the whole face important challenges. “We are applying considerable efforts related to the equipment renovation program,” said the Director General. “This May the program is planned to be brought forward to the Government. The program must fully capture the ability of Russian power machine building industry to manufacture replacement equipment for worn-out facilities.”
The implementation of the program for organization of a new electricity metering system is another important task that needs active support by media. It will be deployed in the coming three years. IDGC Holding has already begun the development of the program; thus, raising awareness of electricity consumers plays an instrumental role. “There are also other challenges related to the need of higher operating reliability of electric distribution grid facilities and the Russian electric utility industry in general,” said Nikolay Shvets.
“Since the Competition has been started,” noted Aleksandr Uzhanov, Information Policy and Communications Director of IDGC Holding, who led the ceremony, “we have received over 300 reports and articles from more than 50 Russian regions. We have thoroughly examined all materials and chosen the best ones in seven nominations. All winners are awarded with crystal diplomas bearing their names.”
The article No Failure published in the Kaliningradskaya Pravda newspaper by Aleksandr Gmyrin has won the Let There Be Light nomination for the best coverage of the activities of the electric distribution grid system.
Vladimir Stepanov, a correspondent of the Energy Division of the Kommersant newspaper, won the second nomination Direct Current for the consistency in covering the business of the electric distribution grid system.
The first prize for the third nomination Special Energy Forces went to Nikolay Kydryashov (see the main photo), the producer of Energy Industry Overview TV project of the Russian Information Channel Russia 24, for the best specialized TV project covering the efforts of interregional distribution grid companies.
Olga Archibasova, the head of the Belgorod News Agency Bel.ru, has been awarded the winner certificate for the Reliable. Simple. Efficient nomination for a series of materials on the deployment of new energy saving technologies and equipment renovation in the electric grid system.
The fifth nomination The Industry’s Faces for reports on employees, the most valuable resource of any company, has been won by Marina Avramenko, a reporter of the Continent Siberia edition.
Yekaterina Guseva, Editor in Chief of the Cable News magazine and RusCable Internet Portal, has been awarded the Light of History nomination for a report on the history of the cable industry in Russia.
When determining the winner of the last, seventh, nomination of the Competition (Energy Saving), the jury have decided to award several authors and editions that were most active in covering the topic. They are Aleksey Ivanov, Editor in Chief of the Energetika newspaper; Yelena Stolnikova, Deputy Editor in Chief of the Promyshlenniy Yezhenedelnik newspaper; Artyom Kuramshov, reporter of the Cable News magazine; Roman Aleyev, Editorial Director of the Energy Industry Overview TV project; Olga Chernokoz, Directorate Head of Regiony Rossii magazine, and Pavel Khlyupin, Director of Energo-info magazine.
The awards were presented to winners by Irina Yesipova, Public and Media Relationships Adviser to the Russian Energy Minister, and Aleksey Glazyrin, President of the Russian Public Relations Association.
The ceremony was attended by PR department heads of 12 operating companies of JSC IDGC Holding who are to organize the preliminary selection of materials for the All-Russian Competition Electric Grids 2010.
